The intercultural Handevat Music Project was launched in 2013 in Kleinmond to support the development of youth in the area in a holistic way using music education. Handevat believes that music making requires and teaches i.a. discipline, concentration, coordination, co-operation, perseverance, commitment and resilience – lifelong skills that support meaningful learning and living. There are more than 200 learners in the different programmes, bringing our youth together and promoting reconciliation through music. The Handevat orchestra, as well as different ensemble groups (brass, clarinets, flutes, saxophones) will be playing popular classics, blues and some great singalongs!
