Hailing from Ashton in the Overberg region of the Western Cape, the award winning Zolani Youth Choir is known for its electrifying traditional Songs infused with dance and body percussion accompanied by a Djembe. The choir, under the baton of founder Odwa Mvunge, tells African stories through African sound and prides itself by being musically versatile. They sing sacred, folk, traditional songs exploring different choral genres and promoting mostly South African composers. The programme includes sacred songs, American folk and spirituals, well-known classical songs and traditional music. The Zolani Youth Choir has become one of South Africa’s most treasured choral groups recognized globally for their unique musical arrangement, vocal talents and infectious energy.
